From challenge to

completed project

A large GTA municipality moving its bus fleet to electric needed overhead charging stations built within tight urban footprints. Spark Power delivered three complete stations, coordinating civil, electrical, and OEM work so each was ready to commission.

How we

solved it

  • Self-performed civil and electrical work together to control sequencing on a tight urban footprint.
  • Coordinated with ABB on site from installation through commissioning to keep the build aligned with OEM requirements.
  • Built testing, permitting, electrical studies, and redline as-builts into the delivery, so the municipality received infrastructure ready to commission.

The metrics

that matter

  • Three 450kW overhead bus chargers fully installed and commissioned. All three stations operational, with civil, electrical, and OEM coordination completed under a single scope.
  • All civil and electrical scope self-performed. Concrete, duct banks, grounding, trenching, and power distribution all delivered in-house without subcontracting.
  • NETA-compliant testing completed with ESA permitting secured. Full testing and permitting managed end-to-end, ensuring the municipality received compliant, commission-ready infrastructure.
  • ABB OEM coordination managed on site. Spark Power interfaced directly with ABB throughout, keeping installation and commissioning aligned with OEM specifications.
