10 MW BESS EPC

Two active mining operations in Belleville and Sudbury, Ontario needed battery energy storage connected to the utility grid, delivered at the same time without disrupting production. Spark Power took both sites under one EPC scope, handling engineering, construction, and safety management with a single project team across both locations.

• Ran both sites as one coordinated program, sharing engineering, planning, and safety management across the two projects.
• Designed each site’s interconnection around its utility’s requirements, instead of forcing one standard design onto both.
• Kept electrical, P&C, and structural engineering in-house, so design decisions stayed with the team building the systems.
• Integrated main power transformers and MV collector systems with the BESS inverters during design, not as a separate step at the end.

• Utility-interconnected BESS infrastructure delivered at two sites. 10 MW / 20 MWh systems operational at both Belleville and Sudbury, supporting the company’s mining operations.
• High-voltage substation and MV system design enabled reliable integration. 44 kV and 69 kV substations engineered and installed to interconnection requirements at both locations.
• Full EPC and safety management across multiple sites. Single accountable team managed engineering, construction, and safety across both projects simultaneously.
• Complete electrical and structural engineering self-performed. All electrical, P&C, and structural engineering executed in-house, with no fragmented delivery across separate firms.
